Miramar grounds San Diego in its commercial roots and military past. Home to the United States Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar bustles daily with activity as Marines live and work here. With a busy business center and acting as a thoroughfare between San Diego and all parts of North County, Miramar is one of the county's most well known areas.

Both office buildings and commercial stores make their homes in Miramar. Businesses hire retired Marines to work at their desks, allowing these men and women to stay in the place where they made their home while in the service. People also come in from out of the area to work at these jobs, drawn in by the easy freeway access and well-planned commute. People from out of the area also come to Miramar to shop. Miramar specializes in large scale retail stores and one stop shopping.

For many county residents, Miramar is famous for its annual air show. Originally started when the Navy had its Top Gun flying school here, the Marines have continued the tradition of the air show and the Navy's Blue Angels remain the most popular attraction. Civilians can come onto the base during other parts of the year as well to see the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum and the combat jets and planes on display there.

Miramar homes are, on the whole, middle class and in well planned communities. This is a safe neighborhood with lots of kids and lots of activities for them after school. Organized sports are popular in the area, including Little League baseball, Bobby Sox softball and Pop Warner football. High school students attend either Scripps Ranch or Mira Mesa High School, both excellent institutions.

As of February2006, the average sales price of a Miramar home is about $517,000. Miramar real estate is now, as always, a great investment.
