Logan Heights Real Estate

Logan Heights is one of the most historic neighborhoods of San Diego. With a culture of activism and strong community pride, it stands out amongst its neighbors for its diversity and commitment to tradition.

The area is famous to most San Diegans for its Chicano Park. The park celebrates the strong Hispanic presence in the area and is decorated with murals commemorating the history of the residents' lineage and the area. The park was erected after a 1970 area protest of a planned Highway Patrol station. The space was saved for the park instead.

Logan Heights is located in southern/central San Diego County, with the end of the Coronado Bridge protruding into the community, and the San Diego Bay to the south. Just as it was in the 1970s, it is today heavily Hispanic, with a strong sense of identity. The Mexican culture in the community means that San Diegans come from all over the county into Logan Heights for its food, just as authentic as on the other side of the border.

Most of Logan Heights' residents work either in downtown San Diego, just a few minutes to the north, or in nearby Chula Vista. The 45,000 people who call the area home are also close to Horton Plaza, Petco Park and the beaches—especially Coronado's famous shores just over the bridge.

The homes of Logan Heights are older, but the age of the neighborhood means that it has had a chance to ripen into its demographic. In other words, the community has built single-family homes, duplexes and apartments to accommodate the changing population. Also, many of the older homes have been renovated, making for interesting architecture and details that you won't find in many newer houses.

The average price of a Logan Heights home in February 2006 was $364,750, reflecting an increase of just over 23% from the same period last year. Homes here have appreciated in value faster than just about anywhere else in the community.
