Jamul has caught on as a hot spot for the bed and breakfast set, which means that more people are buying property to rent out to bed and breakfast managers or to run themselves, as a new career. Visitors love coming to Jamul because it's just 15 miles away from San Diego, where many of them make their homes, but it feels even further.

The Jamul-Dulzura Union School District ranks high in state testing—sometimes up the the 90th percentile. Many of Jamul's adults opt to continue their education at nearby Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego. The college also brings free cultural and academic activities to the area.

The average sales price of a Jamul home in February 2006 was $467,985, although property can be found for as little as $250,000 or for as much as almost $2 million. The area has no condominiums. There is also some open property still available in Jamul for owners to build new custom homes. Jamul real estate is a solid investment.
