This area has a certain natural beauty; its elevation guarantees views of greater San Diego from many vantage points. Valencia Park is especially famous for its view. Stand at its peak, and you will be able to turn in a full circle to take in all of San Diego. Nowhere will your view be obstructed.

Residents of Encanto often make the commute from the southeastern quadrant of San Diego to points north and west via the San Diego Trolley system, which has a station to service the area. Older students attend nearby Lincoln High School, renowned all over the city for its athletic programs.

Encanto residents have tight ties. Bound by their commitment to revitalizing the area and its schools, the community has several organizations, formal and informal, working towards that goal. These alliances have led to public art projects and other beautification efforts. Encanto has several innovative murals sponsored by community organizations.

The area continues to develop, adding both residential and commercial space. South Encanto, especially, still has room for development and is adding single-family homes. Much of the rest of Encanto real estate combines houses with apartment buildings. The average home sales price for an Encanto home was $457,790 in Feburary 2006.
