Bay Park Real Estate

Tourists come from miles around to see the kind of views that residents of Bay Park have every day from their own yards. Set right on Mission Bay, Bay Park looks out on Sea World, Mission Bay Park and, for some, the skyline of downtown San Diego.

Bay Park homes were built in the days before developers tried to cram as many people into as small a space as possible—especially near the beach. These homes were constructed for actual Southern California living. That means that they have amenities you can't count on anymore—two car garages with sizeable driveways, for instance, and kitchens designed more for cooking for the family than microwaving.

And the space they occupy caters more to residents than to the tourists who flock here every year. Bay Park is home to churches where you'll run into your neighbors every Sunday, parks where your kids can have play dates and recreation centers that put on free events for the whole community. The University of San Diego, just up the hill, also hosts events open to the public.

And, of course, there are the outdoor activities available to every San Diegan. The beach is a draw for anyone, as is Mission Bay. Residents gather on the shores of each all year for volleyball, a picnic or just sitting around in the sun with friends. Locals also spend time hiking in nearby Tecolote Canyon. Downtown San Diego is about 15 to 20 minutes away.

Students are part of the San Diego City School District, and Mesa College, the local community college, is also nearby.

The average Bay Park home sold for about $424,785 in February 2006. Bay Park real estate is a sound investment.
