Allied Gardens Real Estate

The kids who grew up in Allied Gardens when the neighborhood was new are moving back—and bringing their families. Drawn to the same attractions that their parents were—great schools, a recreation center and library and strong neighborhood organizations—these new homeowners are rediscovering one of San Diego's most family-friendly neighborhoods and developing it even more to meet their needs.

That means making sure that their kids have plenty to do in a safe environment. Allied Gardens boasts impressive groups for children, from Bobby Sox softball teams to Pop Warner football. The neighborhood has multiple active Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops for every age group. After-school activities and day care centers are associated with almost all of the elementary schools in the neighborhood, both public and private.

Older kids attend Patrick Henry High School, a public school for grades 9 through 12, which offers a strong Advanced Placement (AP) program and college placement.

And the community is held together by a great network of adult associations. The Kiwanis and the Allied Gardens Community Council are particularly active, hosting social events in the park, performing neighborhood cleanups and helping elderly folks around the neighborhood.

A little further from home lies the beaches of San Diego—just about 20 minutes by car to Mission Beach, home of the Boardwalk and the famous wooden roller coaster. Even nearer are multiple malls, home to everything from discount stores to Target to Neiman Marcus. Most of these malls are outdoors, letting shoppers take advantage of San Diego's year-round temperate weather and gentle ocean breezes. From Allied Gardens, it's also a quick drive to Qualcomm Stadium, home of the NFL's Chargers and other sporting events. And downtown is about 20 minutes away.

Homes in Allied Gardens tend to be more affordable than those in surrounding neighborhoods, though they also tend to be slightly smaller. The average sales price of a home in the neighborhood in February 2006 was about $610,175.
